Senda del Oso with Your Dog
Your dog can enjoy the route too. Here's everything you need to know: rules, recommended sections and transport options by size.
Before you leave — the checklist that works
Harness and lead
Compulsory on the entire route. The greenway is shared by cyclists, families and dogs — control is essential.
Extra water for your dog
Dogs dehydrate faster than you think. Bring more water than you think you'll need.
Regular rest stops
Stops every 20–30 minutes help maintain your dog's energy throughout the route.
Watch out for the heat
In summer, avoid the midday heat and check the pads afterwards: hot tarmac can burn them.
Which section to choose with your dog?
Tuñón — Proaza
Comfortable distance, flat profile and multiple stops by the river. Ideal for most dogs.
Entrago — Buyera
18 km that go well for dogs accustomed to long routes. The descent is gentle and the surface is good.
Proaza — Valdemurio
Less traffic but with cumulative elevation. Recommended only for dogs in good physical condition.
What if the dog can't do the whole route?
No problem. There are bike trailers and baskets for hire adapted to your dog's weight so they can enjoy the scenery without effort.
